Cage Match: Who is the better fantasy own - Drew Doughty or Alex Pietrangelo?

Drew Doughty and Alex Pietrangelo will always be linked in my mind as the best two traditional defensemen drafted in the disgustingly loaded 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Yes, yes, yes, Erik Karlsson, but note I said traditional defensemen. Karlsson is something else. He’s the cherry on top. Doughty and Pietrangelo were drafted to become anchors on the blueline for their once wayward franchises and they’ve become just that.

Some Stanley Cup notes - it's starting to look as though Viktor Stalberg will be out… and Bryan Bollig will be in. Tim Sassone tweeted the line combos in practice, for the Blackhawks: Sharp - Toews - Hossa Bickell - Handzus - Kane Saad - Bolland - Shaw Bollig - Kruger - Frolik So Coach [...]

Which NHL players are the biggest bargains? Read on to find out.

The term best contracts may be misleading, as it depends on what perspective is taken. Players and agents want to maximize their earnings, while general managers usually have opposing interests. For this column, the perspective of the general manager is taken. The 10 players selected with the best contracts are all outperforming what they earn significantly.

Back from taking the family on a mini-vacation for four days... * Andrei Kostitsyn has signed to play next year in the KHL as well now. * Interesting theory on Carey Price floated by his former goalie coach Rollie Melanson (via TSN.ca) - he opines that Price's game has grown steadily worse due to bad [...]

Fun with Google Instant Search

Roos takes a funny look at what Google's Instant Search offers when you type certain player names...

It’s hard to believe that Google Instant Search has been around for almost three years. For those who don’t know what Instant Search is (or might not realize they do), the way it works is when you type something in a Google search box it auto-completes the search as you type, predicting what you’re searching for based on the most popular searches that have been run which match what you’ve typed so far. Since it debuted, Instant Search has been used as a source for humor almost as much as for information. I figured I’d try to mix a little bit of both with this week’s column by using Google Instant Search to have some fun, but also to see if it could somehow be turned into a useful tool for fantasy hockey enthusiasts.

This year’s playoffs have showed the power of momentum shifts and perhaps the shortened season has had a lot to do with that. It seems like teams have struggled with consistency and could have rounded into form easier during the post-season had they gone through a full 82-game campaign.   The Boston Bruins are a [...]

Anaheim's Crease Getting Crowded...

Every National Hockey League organization is looking for that goalie that can steal a game or carry the team on his back from time-to-time. It's difficult to have any sort of long-term postseason success without some steady play between the pipes. Although the Anaheim Ducks made an early exit from this year's Stanley Cup playoffs, they currently have the good fortune of having two netminders that they can rely on in Jonas Hiller and Viktor Fasth.
