Hockey Rambling

This past week have seen a lot of big-name prospect signings as all of Kent Johnson, Matty Beniers, and Owen Power signed following the end of Michigan’s season. It seems as if all three could make their debuts this week for Columbus, Seattle, and Buffalo, respectively. They are all prospects that we are high on [...]

To put it bluntly, this has not been a good season for your goalies. With a couple of exceptions, many struggled this season, either with injuries, in a timeshare or they just plain sucked. We may wind up with only six netminders to start 60 games. For comparison, the last three full seasons before Covid, [...]

With another point Sunday afternoon, Erik Haula has 12 in his last 10 games. His Boston stint got off to a tough start with just five points in his first 25 games. But since then, he has 32 in 44. A big part of that is obviously Boston breaking up The Perfection Line. David Pastrnak [...]

It might not be true 50 goals in 50 games, but scoring 50 goals over any 50-game span is quite an accomplishment. The last player to score 50 over 50 games was Mario Lemieux during the 1995-96 season. Here’s the goal that put Auston Matthews into a goal-per-game pace over a 50-game span. https://twitter.com/MapleLeafs/status/1512939199015567361 For [...]

If you play in a head-to-head league, your fantasy playoffs are probably well underway. So which players are decent options for that end-of-week push? The answer is just about anyone. It depends on what you need. Maybe it’s the obvious goals and assists, or something more unique such as faceoffs or blocked shots. You’ll see [...]

It has been a very turbulent season on the ice for Carolina forward Martin Necas. It looked like as if he was busting out in a big way recently with a six-points-in-four-games stretch, but that was over a week ago, and that’s a lifetime at this stage of the NHL season. He found himself on [...]

There was some very good news for Jason Zucker and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday. The former Wild winger was injured in his first game back at the end of March, just an absolutely brutal return for a guy who has his fair share of nicks and scratches these last two years. The good news [...]

Ryan Getzlaf is planning to retire at the end of the season. He had an excellent start to the year, propped up by some high percentages, but as the campaign has progressed it does appear that he is nearly running on empty. He had an incredibly impressive career, winning all of the important titles including [...]

After missing a couple games due to illness, Jordan Kyrou was back in the lineup for St. Louis on Monday night. This is a big deal for the Blues because while they have good forward depth, the third line has been struggling at times over the last month. He helps stabilize that line a bit, [...]

Nazem Kadri is on pace to end the season with 105 points – except he may not play another regular season game this year. This is very significant in terms of his future value in dynasty/keeper leagues. He is an unrestricted free agent certain to cash in come summer. But how much will he cash [...]
