Hockey Rambling

Jack Eichel has finally been traded! In case you missed it, Buffalo finally traded the disgruntled center along with a 2023 third-round pick to Vegas for Alex Tuch, Peyton Krebs, a 2022 first-round pick, and a 2023 second-round pick. Mike Clifford wrote about the trade from a fantasy perspective, which you can read about here. [...]

Not the news that Penguins fans or fantasy hockey owners wanted to hear: Sidney Crosby has COVID. Now, he should be fine, assuming he’s vaccinated (which he is), along with teammate Brian Dumoulin, who also tested positive. We have seen some players develop long-term issues from this, namely Marco Rossi and Brandon Sutter. Both those [...]

After Gary Bettman absolutely belly flopped in the NHL’s press conference regarding the Chicago Blackhawks abuse scandal, there is another lawsuit being filed against current and former members of the Penguins. https://twitter.com/KatieJStrang/status/1455539564949479424 It is horrific that these things have taken so long to be brought to light and taken seriously, but I hope that this [...]

The big news from Monday was that Cole Caufield, Montreal's prize prospect, was being sent to the AHL. On the season, he has zero goals on 22 shots, with just one assist in 10 contests. That is poor, to be sure, but let's keep in mind that Hoffman and Perreault are the only Habs players [...]

The Arizona Coyotes are so terrible that the only way they are getting wins is if their goalie steals one. Since Carter Hutton will never do that, it falls on either Karel Vejmelka or Ivan Prosvetov. And as much as I like Prosvetov as a prospect, I think he’s two years away from being a [...]

Sidney Crosby finally made his season debut on Saturday, but neither he nor the Penguins received the result they were hoping for. Crosby was held without a point with a minus-3 with two shots in 19 minutes of icetime in a 4-2 loss to New Jersey. The Penguins have to be relieved that their captain [...]

The NHL has announced that Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff will not face any discipline for his role in the Blackhawks sexual assault scandal. Even though Cheveldayoff wasn’t considered the authority figure at that time that he is today, his reputation will be affected simply by his knowledge of and presence in the situation as an [...]

I don’t believe in stacking the top PP unit with your best guys, once it’s clear that your power play is not in the NHL’s Top 10. Take the Toronto Maple Leafs, for example. If Auston Matthews, John Tavares, William Nylander, Morgan Rielly and Mitch Marner sit you in 28th place in the league for [...]

Hey there, it’s Ian filling in for Mike today. I’m going to start with Kyle Beach. As you probably know by now, he revealed himself as the “John Doe” victim of the sexual abuse and cover-up that took place in the Blackhawks organization in 2010. Beach’s full 25-minute interview with Rick Westhead is up at [...]

It’s tough to talk about fantasy hockey in the wake of all of the news dropping from the result of the investigation into the abuse and cover up in the Chicago Blackhawks organization back in 2010. I won’t get into the details of the incident(s), the cover up, or the fallout here, but I do [...]
