Hockey Rambling

There were a couple very notable signings in the NHL yesterday.  First, the Hurricanes signed young star Andrei Svechnikov to an eight-year deal worth $7.75M a season. He will be UFA at the end of the deal but this carries him through his entire prime. It is a very smart bet. Coincidentally, I wrote about [...]

What do we make of the San Jose Sharks? At this point, given all that’s gone on this offseason, I am assuming that Evander Kane is not going to be in the lineup opening night. They have an aging blue line that is wildly overpaid and the trio of Burns/Karlsson/Vlasic are all in decline. In [...]

Building off of last week’s Ramblings where I started discussing how I review and prep for my fantasy seasons, and the next big step is mock drafts. Yahoo mock drafts are open, and I have run through a couple before gathering some thoughts here. I have a bit of a usual routine in prepping for [...]

I was writing about the Carolina Hurricanes and their offseason movement and one player we haven’t really talked much about is Andrei Svechnikov. It wasn’t that long ago that I thought he was on the verge of genuine superstardom. He hasn’t reached that peak yet, and in fact took a step back pretty much across [...]

The Fantasy Guide was released LAST WEEK! As you know, this Guide gets updated throughout the offseason. More frequently as training camp opens. But rest assured, you will get up to the minute info. Just re-download it as needed! An update was done on Sunday, albeit a minor one. Those of you who live in [...]

The last player that was scheduled to have an arbitration hearing agreed to a contract on Saturday. Travis Sanheim signed a two-year contract with an AAV of $4.675 million with the Flyers. That contract makes Sanheim the fourth-highest paid defenseman on the Flyers, behind Ivan Provorov and newly acquired Ryan Ellis and Rasmus Ristolainen. Those [...]

King Henrik is calling it a career. Henrik Lundqvist finishes off with a 459-310-96 record, a 2.43 GAA, .918 SV% and 64 SO in 15 seasons, all with the Rangers. Remember that he signed with the Capitals during the past offseason but could not play due to a heart condition, so it’s a shame if [...]

Get your Fantasy Guide if you haven’t already! If you want to win your fantasy league this season, it is a must-own. Better yet, combine it with the Fantasy Hockey Geek, which is available this week! The Geek takes the Dobber projections, then allows you to customize values for your league’s scoring system. https://twitter.com/FantasyHockeyGk/status/1428013698598244362 In [...]

The Dallas Stars had a very tough season in the shortened 2021 campaign. They had their own COVID shutdowns, which was something many other teams had to deal with. But they also had a slew of injuries that really held this team back. Out of a possible 56 games, Alexander Radulov played 11, Tyler Seguin [...]

The 2021-22 DobberHockey Fantasy Guide dropped on Saturday, and I’ve had the chance to skim/read through it once now, and I am on my second run-through with a finer toothed comb now. There’s too much information to digest in just one sitting or one read-through, so I typically try to get through it a few [...]
