The 'Looking Ahead' series helps you get the edge when setting your fantasy lineups.

A tough decision can be made easier with these charts showing you the best five and worst five schedules for upcoming seven-day periods. Some of you used them last year but for the benefit of new readers here is a refresher. The number next to the team indicates the 'multiplier' to use on a player's point-per-game pace to give you an idea how many points to expect for that week.

Ryan Ma shares his thoughts on how to be a successful fantasy hockey GM through trading and negotiating.

Last year I wrote a similar column regarding trading strategies, this year I’ve updated it and hopefully will also catch a few of the new Dobberities who missed it the first time around. A couple of years ago I read a life-changing book penned by Steven R. Covey titled “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” One habit that he focuses on is to always think win-win.

With this being a shortened 48-game season, and nearing the half way mark, I thought it would be a great idea to see if I can apply some of his thoughts into the realm of fantasy hockey trading to improve your fantasy squad and ultimately help you win your league. Most of the strategies will be centered around rotisserie leagues, but many of these concepts can be easily transferrable to head-to-head leagues.

Eric Daoust takes a look at the recent trade between Dallas and Montreal.

Two days ago there was a trade that saw Erik Cole traded from Montreal to Dallas in exchange for Michael Ryder and a third round draft pick in 2013. Dobber’s fantasy take on the transaction can be found here. Here we will dig deeper and look at the deal from each team’s perspective with a dedicated focus on their respective situations within the NHL’s salary cap structure.

Granlund vs. Galchenyuk, Huberdeau vs. Conacher - and more in the Cage Match Rookie Tournament

It is now Week 3 of the Cage Match Rookie Tournament and we are already off to the second round. Things are moving fast up in here! Week Two brought a lot more excitement to the table than Week One, likely because the Ovechkin Bracket was the deeper of the two brackets. Let’s see what went down.

Taking a look at Face-off Win % and Power-Play Points

In last week’s column I highlighted the “Category Killers” (players who drag your team down by doing major damage in at least one category) for Hits and Blocked Shots.  This week I shift to two other secondary categories – faceoff percentage and power play points – where it is just as hard (if not harder) to notice the effects of a category killer but where the effects can be just as bad (if not worse) to your team.  Once again I examine the full season results from 2011-12, and then see if any of the players are on pace for improvement based on their 2012-13 numbers so far.

Buy, Sell or Hold - looking at Kadri, Ladd, Voracek, Moulson and more...

In less than two weeks, this condensed season will at the mid-point. If you are still hanging on to some traditional top performers who are not giving you the returns you thought or are debating dropping one for a seemingly lesser-like who may be having a good run, this week is dedicated to you. All of the verdicts below are based on one year leagues only. Keeper league value can be a whole other kettle of fish. This article will cover a dozen players from only the Eastern Conference.
