Cage Match – the Tournament!

Cage Match

The most daunting question in the world of fantasy hockey is: who is the best player in fantasy hockey?

This would have made for a great Cage Match except there is no consensus top two to pit against each other. I am not sure there is even a consensus top four. The field is wide open. The league is booming with young talent and the combination of injuries and parity has the effect of evening out the playing field. To single out just two players would be silly so to do it up right would call for a Royal Rumble of a Cage Match. That would simply be madness. There is only one solution: harness the madness.

With that in mind I am proud to introduce to you the inaugural Cage Match Tournament!

SHOP is now fixed. DOWNLOADS is now fixed. FORUM sort issue is now fixed. There are bugs still to be worked out on the new DobberHockey. More bugs we are working on are listed below.   Dallas has signed Jeff Woywitka to a contract. If they don't re-sign Zubov, he'll get on the second [...]

Johan Franzen

It’s not often that a 24 year old gets drafted. At that point, if the player is good enough to be drafted, then there are 30 teams who could have just signed him at any time during the preceding few years.

But in 2004, the Red Wings were at it again, grabbing 24-year-old Johan Franzen 97th overall. His 30 points in 49 contests in the Swedish Elite League that year was a big jump from the six points that he had in the preceding campaign.

Nik Hagman is pointless in his last nine contests. Sergei Zubov will not play this weekend, but should play during the week sometime. Steve Bernier had eight points in his first seven games for Buffalo, but is pointless in his last six.  The Detroit News is reporting that Dominik Hasek will likely not start Sunday. He was back [...]

Sidney Crosby has ruled himself out of tonight's game against the Isles. I think that it's safe to say that he won't play tomorrow night either.  Chris Kelly has a hairline fracture in his leg. Best-case scenario would have miss just three games of the postseason, but missing the entire first round is more likely.  "School of [...]

Evgeni Malkin

It has been a lot of fun putting this team together. As much as we all love fantasy hockey, there is more to the game than just stats. There are obviously some high scoring players that made my squad, but it was not solely for their point-producing abilities. Intangibles, such as determination, teamwork, and hockey IQ also played a large factor. There will be a few surprises on this squad I am sure, and hopefully it sparks some debate over at the DobberHockey forums. Read on to see the full line-up, and below is a comprehensive breakdown of each line, pairing, and goaltender. Enjoy!
